Itinerary:

Day 1: Wednesday (B,L,D)

Arrive Roma and enjoy a welcome breakfast and learn the story of Captain Starlight. Visit The Big Rig, an entertaining education experience introducing Roma’s part in Australian Oil and Gas heritage. Freshen up prior to dinner and the Big Rig Night show. Overnight Roma

Day 2: Thursday (B,L,D)

Traverse the north western section of the famous Darling Downs and learn of the latest natural gas discoveries around Injune. Travel through the scenic sand stone belt on the Great Dividing Range through to Carnarvon Gorge Wilderness Lodge. Enjoy a short walk into Ballon Cave as a stunning introduction to this natural and cultural pristine wilderness. Overnight Carnarvon Gorge.

Day 3: Friday (B,L,D)

Dedicate the day to incredible walks of discovery into Carnarvon Gorge National Park. There are different walk options catering to various interests and fitness levels for you to get the best value from your Carnarvon Gorge experience. Options range from a short gorge walk and the National Parks Ranger’s Interpretative Centre to the outstanding Moss Gardens and/or the amazing Art Gallery Aboriginal Art Site. Overnight Carnarvon Wilderness Lodge.

Day 4: Saturday (B,L,D)

Depart Carnarvon Gorge after an unforgettable two nights in the wilderness. Be amazed at the enormity of the coal mining industry at Blackwater with a surface mine tour and a visit to the International Coal Centre. After time to freshen up learn about the Fairbairn Dam irrigation scheme and enjoy sunset over Lake Maraboon. Overnight Emerald

Day 5: Sunday (B,L,D)

Experience the Rubyvale Gem Fields with a walk-in mine tour at Miners Heritage. Travel through to Alpha for lunch amongst its famous murals. Arriving in Longreach enjoy leisure time prior to soaking up sunset with the Drover’s Extravaganza Dinner. Be charmed by our outback entertainers and savour the traditional outback themed cuisine with our fun farewell awards. Overnight Longreach

Day 6: Monday

Depart via Rail or Air with memories of a lifetime from Roma, Carnarvon Gorge, Emerald and beyond.
